Macro recorder for Chrome

EasyAgent sits in Chrome’s side panel, next to the page you’re working on. Record a task once, then replay it with a click, on a timer, or for every row of a spreadsheet.

Short version: Chrome has no built-in macro recorder for everyday tasks. Its DevTools Recorder is a developer tool for testing pages. EasyAgent is the point-and-click version: record in the side panel, edit steps in plain English, and run them as often as you like.

Getting started

How to record a macro in Chrome

In Chrome

  1. 1

Add EasyAgent to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. Pin it to the toolbar so it’s one click away.

  2. 2

Open the website you want to automate and click the EasyAgent icon. It opens as a side panel and stays open while you work.

  3. 3

Press Start new recording and do the task as usual. Steps appear in the panel as you go.

  4. 4

Press Stop recording, then Replay. Watch Chrome do it again.

  5. 5

Save the macro under a name in the Macros library so you can run it again tomorrow, or share it with a colleague as a file.

Built into Chrome

Made for the way Chrome works

EasyAgent uses Chrome’s own extension features, so nothing extra runs on your computer.

Side panel

The panel stays put while you click around the page. Prefer a popup? Switch it on the Advanced tab.

Your Chrome session

Macros run in your normal Chrome profile, so sites you’re signed into stay signed in.

Chrome alarms for schedules

Scheduled macros keep running while Chrome is open — the panel doesn’t need to be.

Saves to Downloads

Run logs and screenshots land in subfolders of your Chrome Downloads folder.

New tabs followed

If a click opens a new tab, recording and replay both follow it there.

Resume after a crash

Progress is saved after every row, so a batch picks up where it stopped after Chrome restarts.

Compared

EasyAgent vs Chrome’s DevTools Recorder

Chrome ships a Recorder panel inside DevTools. It’s good at what it’s for — recording a user flow to test or measure a page — but it isn’t built for repeating office work.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Chrome have a built-in macro recorder?
Not for everyday tasks. Chrome’s DevTools has a Recorder panel for developers testing pages, but it can’t loop over a spreadsheet, run on a schedule or extract data. An extension like EasyAgent fills that gap.
How do I record a macro in Chrome?
Install EasyAgent, open the website, click the EasyAgent icon, press Start new recording, do the task, then press Stop recording. Press Replay to run it again.
Does it keep running if I close the side panel?
Scheduled runs do — they’re driven by Chrome itself, not the panel. Chrome does need to be running.
Can I run a Chrome macro for hundreds of rows?
Yes. Paste your rows from Excel on the Data tab. Dry run tries the first row; Run remaining does the rest. Failed rows can be retried on their own.
Is the Chrome macro recorder free?
Yes — every feature, with no account, no ads and no limit on runs.
