Use case · Scheduled checks

Check a web page on a schedule, and keep a log

Want a price, a stock level, a player count or a status written down every hour, without visiting the page yourself? Record the check once, put it on the Schedule tab, and EasyAgent builds the log for you.

FREE · NO SERVER · RUNS IN THE BACKGROUND WHILE YOU WORK

Runs quietly in the background. Each scheduled run opens its page in a separate window that doesn’t take focus from what you’re doing, reads what it needs and closes it again.

Walkthrough

Set up a scheduled check

Four steps

  1. 1

Record the check. Open the page, start recording, then use Extract on each value you want to keep, such as the price, the count or the status text.

  2. 2

Save it as a macro. Open Macros and save it under a name, e.g. “Price watch”.

  3. 3

Pick an interval. On the Schedule tab choose the macro and how often: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1, 2, 6 or 24 hours, or your own number of minutes. Press Start.

  4. 4

Open the log any time. The Schedule tab shows every run with the time, pass or fail and the values it read. The same log is kept as one CSV in your Downloads folder, named after the macro.

Ideas

What people keep an eye on

Prices

Log a product’s price every few hours and chart it in Excel later.

Stock and availability

Record when “Out of stock” turns into “In stock”.

Counts and totals

Players online, open tickets, orders today, queue length.

Is it still working?

A macro with no Extract steps still logs pass or fail, so it doubles as a check that a form or login page still works.

Whole tables

Add an Extract Table step to log every row of a leaderboard or report on each run.

Values behind a login

It runs in your own browser, so internal dashboards and admin pages work too.

The log

Choose how the CSV looks

Wide→One line per run, one column per value: easy to chart
Tidy→One line per value with Date, Time, Field Name and Value: easy to filter and pivot
Where it’s saved→Downloads → EasyAgent Logs → your macro’s name.csv (the folder can be changed on the Advanced tab)

Good to know: EasyAgent runs inside your browser, so Chrome or Firefox needs to be open for a scheduled run to fire. One schedule runs at a time, and it logs values rather than sending alerts.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I check a website automatically every hour?
Record a macro that opens the page and extracts the value you want, save it, then choose it on EasyAgent’s Schedule tab with a 1 hour interval and press Start.
Does my computer need to stay on?
Yes. The schedule runs inside your browser, so the computer and Chrome (or Firefox) need to be running. The EasyAgent panel doesn’t need to be open.
Where are the results saved?
In the Schedule tab’s run log, and as one CSV in your Downloads folder under EasyAgent Logs, named after the macro. The file is rewritten after each run so it always has the full history.
Can it alert me when the value changes?
Not yet. Today it logs every value with the time it was read, so you can sort or chart the CSV to see changes.
Can I schedule more than one check?
One schedule runs at a time. You can switch it to a different saved macro whenever you like, and each macro keeps its own log file.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The checks run in your browser and the log is saved on your computer.

Record the check once. Let it run.

Free for Chrome and Firefox. Nothing leaves your computer.
